Book Hound

Hello!

I'm not quite sure why the program won't let me put the proper date on this post: Saturday the 11th, but now you know anyway! Theres' more than one way to get around a computer glitch!

Frax and Bill and I spent a lovely time at our local library today. Frax loves to smell the books. I can't imagine all that he can tell from the books he smells: who checked the book out last, what they ate while reading it, and so on. He thinks perhaps he can 'read' as well by trying to lick the books...and we've had lengthy discussions about how it doesn't work, and furthermore NOT to do that!

One of the most favorite 'commands' that both Jet and Frax have loved is 'shop'. That means Frax takes the library card from my hand, jumps up and puts his paws on the desk, simultaneously giving the card to the library clerk. After the card is scanned, the clerk hands it back to Frax and Frax gives it back to me. He's always so proud of himself when he does that! I always give him a treat if we haven't used all the treats on our foray out. Either way, he gets praised to the moon! He rolls his eyes around with pleasure, smiling his gentle Frax smile then.

The first day back from the library is such bliss for me...Frax lying next to me trying not to lick the book I've selected, my hand absently draped over the gorgeous curls that spring stylishly over his broad shoulders. He will cuddle even closer today, because we are having a cold snap overnight. He snuggles up and breathes moist dog puffs in my ear...very relaxing, actually. Bill will peek in the room and ask from time to time "How's the books?" and I will tell him they are wonderful. A big grin lights his face up and he stumps off to the kitchen, saying "very good then!"

All in all a great outing in the bright sunlight of a early spring day. The dogwoods are starting to bloom and remind me of bridal gowns in their tumbling glory. Our biggest dogwood in the front yard is absolutely gorgeous. I must take a picture to share with you.

Well, off to bed to stop reading so I don't waste a minute of another pretty day tommorrow! Thank you all again for your support and passing along your love of Frax's blog.
