Hello!

It seems that our bee theme has continued through today...Frax and I were digesting after lunch and suddenly heard a racket coming from the window that sounded like a chain saw. An angry one. This time one of our big bees had gotten stuck inside the double-window! I have no earthly idea how the bee did this. He made a horrific racket, poor thing, bumping and trying to get back out. There wasn't a thing that I could do for him.

Meantime Frax had an appalled expression on his face, much like the one we see on the right! He was distinctly uncomfortable and required numerous reassurances. Our code for calming down and knowing that his person has got everything under control is "no big deal." I repeated the soothing phrase every few minutes while trying to figure how to spring the bee. Finally I drew the curtains closed. It muffled the poor bee's attempts to extricate himself and reassured Frax quite a bit. After fifteen minutes or so of furious buzzing, all was quiet. The bee couldn't be found...either he got out or passed out. Frax didn't much care as long as the bee was gone.

Nearly simultaneously, a story broke from Washington State, in which a whole TRUCKFUL of bees overturned on the interstate! Can you just imagine!

The first responders all got stung, no one got sick luckily, and the truck driver is fine. The bee company was sending the bees to a blueberry farm close to the Canadian border when the accident occurred. Depending on what news report you go by it's either thousands or millions of bees, but we can all agree it was ALOT of bees!

Reacting quickly, the bee company sent beekeepers to the wreck, who tried to wrangle the highly irritated bees and the honeycomb that littered the highway. Drivers were advised to keep their windows rolled up (DUH?).

Frax was appalled. He can't wrap his mind around so many bees. This is the stuff of bad doggie dreams! It's the stuff of bad human ones too! "No big deal" is good for one bee, but millions, probably not. He knows 'mom' and 'dad' are near tonight and will be there always to have his back, just as he has mine. No fears. He believes. He's snoozing quietly next to me right now.

Sweet dreams friends. No pun intended.
