"There Are Chicken Bones Everywhere!"

That quote is directly from Jennifer Arnold, CEO of Canine Assistants. Truer words have not been spoken.
Hello!
Here's a nice alert close-up by Canine Assistant's Photographer. He is sooooo goood!
One of the lectures that stuck with me from our first canine 'bootcamp' was the one on chicken bones. Yes. Chicken bones. Jennifer Arnold stated emphatically that there are "chicken bones everywhere!"
Speaking to her bemused audience she explained it this way: " you could be alone at the North Pole, not another human being around for a thousand miles...look down, and there would be a chicken bone!" The class roared with laughter! However, the thought stuck with us, which is precisely what she intended!
It's the human being part of the service team that needs to be alert to chicken bones and other refuse dropped by the previous people that have come the same way. Many times with many dogs I've found my small hand (a good thing), in the mouth of an unrepentant canine intent on devouring the inedible. There are long stories of all sorts of horrible things that dogs try to eat.
Even the most diligent owner has had the experience of a one sided conversation with their dog "what did you think you were doing with that?!" To which the dog would respond much as a teenager: "What do you think I was trying to do? EAT IT!" Sheesh.
Team work. While he protects me, just another thing I must do to protect him. Even when he doesn't want it.
Later...
