Hello!
The month of May is National Service Dog Eye Exam Month, and Frax goes for his free annual appointment today. He is one lucky dog. The eye exams are given free by local veterinarians and vet schools nationwide provided by a grant from a national company. It's a wonderful thing that both the company and the participating veterinarians offer.
Previous years, we've had the exam done at the Vet School, which is in downtown. This year they were entirely booked, so we are going to one of the local vet clinics that is also participating. The examiners don't keep previous files, so it doesn't matter where you go, just that you have it done.
Once burnt, twice shy as the saying goes. I tend to get the wimwams in my stomach when it comes to taking Frax in for a vet check. I know it's stupid, but it relates back to taking Jet in for something we thought was minor, then finding out it wasn't. It's akin to how most of us feel about going to the dentist, I expect. Few really relish going, and those are the ones who have never experienced dental hell!
It's important just as the grooming we've discussed, tooth brushing, toe trimming, massage and grooming we've spoken about earlier. It all combines to keep your dog in the tip-top of condition, hopefully preventing troubles before they start, or catching them early when they are usually very treatable.
He's sleeping blissfully next to me, as soon I will be. Big day today. He'll ace it! I know!:)
Later!
