A Quiet Kind Of Day

Hello!
Seems today was a day for doing things inside. All day, the bright green oak leaves have rustled in a breeze that foretold future rain. The air smelled of rain and grey clouds scattered between bouts of sunshine. Finally a short rainstorm came. It was nearly anticlimactic after smelling, hearing and feeling it all day. Frax, ever mindful of rain and wetness particularly was annoyed~ 'go on and rain already...get it over with so I can scamper in the backyard and check things out properly!' he muttered.
To get his mind off of things he got a crunchy bone (a small piece of rolled cowhide), which he devoured in no time flat! It's nearly impossible to keep Frax in toys, not that we haven't tried. He's a very strong chewer, and can get into most anything that isn't hard rubber or plastic! I've looked for years for a stuffed toy he can't destroy, but it's futile. He will accept it with joy~ prance around the house showing it to all interested parties, then lay on the floor and dismember it!
We've tried the plain-looking sheep-wool stuffies. Supposedly, being plain, they don't give an aggressive chewer a chance to latch on and pull it apart. Right. It takes him under ten minutes usually. So I continue on my search for the perfect stuffed toy, while the hard rubber and plastic ones will have to do.
Dog toys are on my mind since tomorrow is Frax's fifth birthday! Wow! Can you imagine! We were teamed up when he was only eighteen months old, just shy of his second birthday. We've been a team now about three and a half years. We've made it to the 'seasoned team' time...and I have frankly been watching the clock a bit...I lost Jettie my first service dog before he turned four, and with each month that has gone by with Frax I keep waiting for something awful to happen. I know that's stupid, but there you go.
Tomorrow it's back for the National Eye Exam at a local vets. We ran out of time last week, due to Bill's work schedule, and had to come back this week. I'll let you know how it went.
