BIG FEETIES (640x480).jpg

Hello!

Once again Wix's date posting app doesn't work...however you and I are smarter than a mixed up program. This is written for Sunday May, 31 2015. Obviously it will be out of order, I've been trying for a few days now to fix things, but this seems the quickest. Thanks for bearing with the slight inconvience!;)

Hope all is well in your little corner of the world! Frax had another exciting day going with me to the dentist (erk!) and then on to eat.

His tail goes in a whirligig circle when he recognizes a dog person...and that's quite a lot of the time! I'm always concerned that with the circular motion as fast as it is, he might just take off and zoom around butt end up much like a helicopter! Guess that would be a Puppicopter! Silly as that might seem, it's a good thing that long tail is well attached, because it gets a workout when we are out.

All canines can smell at least 40,000 times better than us, and they 'visualize' the world much differently than we do...it is a scent-driven world for the most part. He 'knows' his doggie people before he meets them by the smell on their shoes and their clothing. Mostly for him at least, it's the shoes. People want to greet him face to face, but first he must check out the shoes!

Speaking of shoes, I had to give away all my beautiful shoes with heels that I had accumulated over the years. It was not good. Shoes show our imagination with our outfits, plus some are just sooo comfortable. However, heels aren't good for me anymore, and I need a shoe with a good grip on the ground. Yep, that leaves me wearing uuuuuugly shoes. It's better than falling on my face, which I have actually done and do not recommend. Luckily flats are in. It's hard to find a flat that my brace can fit in, but I've looked around, and there are a few. Tennis shoes, or walking shoes usually work. I have an amazingly ugly pair of black lace-ups that feel great and hold the brace pretty well. I will be getting a replacement brace next week for the one I was wearing that just snapped off! I likely would have had to get rid of my shoes anyhoo...I never knew it, but feet lose weight when you lose weight! So all my wide size shoes were too big too! Who woulda thunk it?

Frax's feet are so strong and big. He has no need of shoes most of the time. Being in the hot south however, if you are going out, think about your dog's feet. They might feel as hard as the leather on your boot, but they still get hot on scalding hot pavement, and can get burnt! They feel it! If it's that hot out, probably you all need perhaps to wait till it cools a bit...walk your dog in the grass as much as you can. Dog shoes are an idea, but remember, they should breathe, and remove the boots from time to time to 'air' your dog's feet~ did you know it's one of the ways he cools off? Yup, through the feet and panting...not really super efficient, so protect those tootsies. There are also shoes made along the lines of Aboriginal dog shoes from leather, and leather I have heard breathes, so they might be better, unless there is a 'breathable' dog shoe out there. Something for us all to research...

On that note...we are tripping off to bed (not literally!)
