milkbones! Frax's first christmas 2011 (640x480)_edited.jpg

JUNE 7-13 (first full week in June) is NATIONAL PET APPRECIATION WEEK

Hello!

Since National Pet Appreciation week is fast approaching...I sought to remind you just as writing this is to remind me. I wish we didn't have to have a National Day set aside to remind us to appreciate our canines. We should appreciate them every day...just like we should appreciate our moms and dads and other 'National' appreciation days that are set aside each year.

* This photo above is me appreciating the great gift of my Sucessor Dog, Frax, November of 2011. The photographer is my hubby, Bill.

It's good to remember these things however, and we are all about remembering stuff here in the Vaught household. I can't tell you the innumerable post-its, calendars and date books I have! It's just what I have to do to remember all to help Bill run our household. The days of remembering where I should be at a certain time without writing it down somewhere are so long gone!

I've always loved calendars, writing in memo books and such. For such a long time I've kept pen and paper at my beside if I have a cool dream, to write it down. Cool dreams seem to evaporate into the ether when we wake up don't they?

There is at least one person in the household that remembers stuff. Frax. He has a memory like a...well...like a steel...yah a steel doggie bowl! That's it! He Knows when 9am and 5pm are exactly. He'll let you know. They are the most important and vital times of the day. He will come and sit on your feet (all 72lbs of him!) and gaze lovingly into your eyes till you fill that steel bowl up with the good stuff...adding of course the requisite warm water to make a delicious broth! Hmmmm. Nothing like a nice warm full tum...then a belly rub. Life is good.

Jet also had the time of day to the minute in our household. If you ignored it, he got much more adamant about it than Zen-like Frax! He would go to the kitchen, pick up his steel bowl and drop it, slamming it into the linoleum floor! It made a racket. He wouldn't stop till you filled it up! Frax has inherited it, the Jet memorial food bowl, with big dents and divots all over it! I wouldn't dare explain where all the divots came from...would you?

Later...
