Hello!

Hope your weekend is glorious! It is here! Later we will do errands, but for now I let Bill sleep. He's exhausted.

I read an article last night that really stuck with me. A woman took her corgi to the dog park and as last treat before they went home he got to dabble at the man-made 'pond' and get really dirty, while other dogs were splashing and having a good time. Long story short~ a little boy was knee-deep in the pond, and his Dad yelled at him to get out, basically the child refused and was bodily picked up and removed, and he made a big stink. Most of the folks just left.

Dog parks are so easily made an unsafe place these days, why add an undisciplined child to the mix. If your child isn't into the dog so much, I would double think it before going with him. A lone visit would be more beneficial for your dog, even if it was shorter.

I can't count the times that a stranger would come up and say "He's got better manners than my kids!" That makes me laugh: there's actually a few things a pup and a young child should know: "Come!", "sit," ""stay", "wait", "go lie down", "no big deal", "good boy" (or girl!). That sounds awful doesn't it, but when you think for a moment, a three-year old and a service dog in training have much the same mental capacity and ability to pick up simple verbal commands and use them.

It doesn't seem anyone teaches kids the basics and it's sad. I'm not sure what they are teaching, but it's not working, seems in a short while we will be a generation of whiny people who can't think for themselves or communicate normally due to all the time with a computer.

It's alway nice being around my nieces, they all have manners, play well with their sisters well and love animals. They are very sweet with Frax, and before Frax, Jet. Both dogs were a bit surprised at how fast and loud kids are, but when Bil and I stayed relaxed visiting with family, they took the cue and settled down. They never had issues after that.

It being summer when the adoption centers for dogs and cats are to the brim, perhaps its time to consider saving a life. This Canine Bill of Rights really says it all doesn't it?

THE CANINE BILL OF RIGHTS (13) I have the right to give and receive unconditional love. I have the right to a life that is beyond mere survival. I have the right to be trained so I do not become the prisoner of my misbehavior. I have the right to adequate food and medical care. I have the right to socialize with people and dogs outside of my family. I have the right to have my needs and wants respected. I have the right to special time with my people. I have the right to only be bred responsibly, if not at all. I have the right to some time and space all my own. I have the right to be foolish and silly, to make my person laugh. I have the right to earn my person's trust and to be trusted in return. I have the right to be forgiven I have the right to die with dignity.
