Shop Til' Ya Drop!

Hello!

Both my helper pups have been serious shoppers. 'Paying' for items is always a highlight of any shopping trip. Watching the stunned looks on people's faces as we wend our way through the aisles with our cart.

We shop at the Dollar Store here, which may sound awful, but it's not. It's stocked with lots of local fruits and veggies, even though it's a national company. It's headquarters is in Tennessee, and I am sure we benefit from that. They make a concerted effort to stock American made goods when they can, which is good.

The store has wide aisles, is service dog friendly, clean, and not so big that it fatiques you to get from one side of the store to the other. Frax always enjoys our trips there.

Many grocery stores as well as other shops offer electric scooters to help handicap shoppers coming out more to buy items. It's a wonderful service, before receiving my power wheelchair I don't know how I would have done our shopping in the hot days of summer. If it's a quick trip into the store, or if I go to a store where I know that the aisle is too tight, Frax and I will go in and I will use a shopping cart as a brace to push around, much like a walker.

Strangely enough, some time back a patron to the Dollar Store liked the motorized shopping cart...that they stole it! This made everyone upset, but also flummoxed. Nobody noticed them running off with it! It was heavy, so if they threw it in the back of a van or truck, they would have required help. They can never use it anywhere in public because its bright yellow with the Dollar Store logo emblazoned on it. And don't you think that if they made it a 'gift' to their granny or someone else, that 'um, well...they'd notice it was stolen? Very odd.

It still has the feel of how grocery stores were in the 50's and 60's. The store is small enough that the workers all know the patrons and visa-versa. It's a good feeling. When Frax and I haven't been in to shop in a while, they will ask about us to Bill. How many times has that happened to you in the other big super chain groceries. Hardly ever I bet!

Well, better off to bed, Frax is excited about our upcoming shopping spree!
