Hello,
My brother Jack's birthday is this Monday. We had planned to take him out to eat on Sunday, but Jack has been very sick and in the hospital this past week with stomach problems. He finally got discharged late yesterday.
He's on pureed food for the next two weeks, to allow his insides to heal. Bill and I went to a great burger joint, Litton's after taking Frax to the vet, which is on the same side of town. We spied a lovely lemon meringue pie in the case, and took it to Jack, figuring that he could eat the egg white topping and sweet filling. He was a bit dubious about it, but I found out Sunday that he went ahead and ate the inside of the filling, and Cheryl, his spouse finished off the graham cracker crust. He enjoyed it immensely I think. Everyone needs to have something sweet for their birthday!
Jack seems a bit gray around the gills but brightened up as we chatted and watched the dogs all playing together nicely. Frax actually likes their pup 'Piper' quite a bit. We call them 'a couple' since it was love at first site when Piper spied Frax. She is a little white West Highland Terrier and loves to play and snuggle with him. The other pup, Beau, is a rescue with 'issues'. He doesn't like new people, or men, or male dogs. Frax really rattles Beau's chains... a big male dog, that Piper loves! Jealousy flared across Beau's face. He eventually came to accept things towards the end of our visit...I wonder though if he will remember, or he will always have the same angst every time we visit?
Later...
