Hello!
Another miserable day at the dentists...don't ask! Frax was stoutly there lending his silent support. He only tried to steal one of the stuffed animals in the lobby this time. The dentist works with a lot of kids as well as their parents, and she has a little play area. Frax zoomed in on this the first time we were there, though it's been explained numerous times to him that this is NOT for pups.
Frax does like the decor, particularly the room that's 'our' room. (It's not good when you see the dentist enough to have your own room, but I digress). It's done up in cows. Everywhere there are cows...even on the ceiling! It is hard to get grumpy when there are flying cows on the ceiling! Frax likes the stuffed cows in a chair nearby. He really wants to play with them and tear them to pieces, but he's reminded each time we come in to leave them be. Hope springs eternal each time that he will listen!
I have another appointment, with an entodontist in a few days. I will have to drive since Bill has to work that time of the day. It's Frax's and my maiden journey after practicing driving again. I am seizure free due to Frax's ability to predict my seizures before I have them, giving me a heads up and allowing me to take medication that will prevent the seizure from occurring. I also am seizing far less since I have had both of my service dogs. The thought is that perhaps the recipient of the seizure prevention dog is more relaxed knowing her dog is waiting nearby to help her if needed. Canine Assistants has noticed a distinct drop in seizure recipients amounts of seizures overall once teamed up with their seizure dog. Whatever the cause, it's a blessing for me, Bill and my family.
Just being able to run to the store for a bit to get a carton of milk is freedom of a kind that you can't imagine unless you've had that taken away as well. MS has taken so many things from me, physically and within my own social world...it's great that Frax has let me strike out a bit and pick up a bit of what I once took for granted. This is the beauty and the strength of having a service dog that no-one can tell you in a chance encounter...this is why I write this blog to give you a peek into the magnificent gift that is Frax~and every seizure prediction, prevention, mobility assist, seeing-eye, PTSD and every other private and community service dog. These are the things that are personal and so special about each and every one of them. I'm honored to share a peek into Frax's and my life to help other's have a better feel for how much a service dog can change a life for the better.
