Hair There Beware

Hello!
A beautiful summer day today, the humidity isn't too bad strangely enough! Frax has had a lovely warm supper and is finishing off a nap! He loves a good nap after breakfast and dinner and gets a bit grumpy if he doesn't get it!
We've also noticed he can't stand linoleum or hardwood floors! Not comfortable enough for him! He will look for something to 'nest' in if nothing is available...a coat, a comforter...whatever he can find and pull to his 'nest'. He then does the traditional three dog circle, stomping and scratching to make the perfect spot for a nap. This of course doesn't mean he is spoiled...well, perhaps a little!
I've noticed that Frax has really been shedding his coat the last two weeks. Anyone else's dog doing this? He's short-coated, and brushed every day, yet there are bags of hair...odd. A couple other folks I know say their dogs are also shedding heavily right now. Not sure if that means August is going to be a scorcher or that this winter will be really snowy and cold~ so the old coat must go, so the luxurious new winter coat can grow in. That's the only thing I can think of. Frax has a really short coat as it is, so it's a bit confusing why the big shed right now. He enjoys the brushing, either way!
We found long ago that the best brush for our Dalmatians, who were heavy shedders was called a 'shedder blade'. It looks like a old timey saw blade, doubled up with a handle. The blade is run down the dog's coat, pulling out dead hairs. After using it, then we finish with a regular brush. Frax loves to be brushed, and I usually end a brushing with a belly rub! Belly rubs are of course a huge fave and Frax is convinced they are an aid to good digestion as well! Silly guy!
We are off to the dentist again, Frax is quite relaxed there, and makes himself a little corner to sleep in while I am miserable for a few minutes! He's a good helper though, and just his mellow presence there makes a dental visit a bit easier!
