A GOOD Day

Hello!

I rarely write about my disability in this blog, because I have come to accept that my MS and seizure disorder is just something about me, sort of like having red hair or freckles. It doesn't change who I am. My service dogs, Jet and Frax have helped me come to that spot by their unconditional love that has literally opened up doors as it has re-opened up my life.

I've mentioned that I've had a huge weight loss~ a hundred pounds more or less in the last year and a half. I've got some crazy stomach issue. That's the thing with having MS...it makes everything worse, it kinda amplifies things and muddies the water. Needless to say, I've been under the weather with the tum stuff...however...light is here. Since November (incidentally when this blog went live!) My home primary care MD has been working with the stomach protocol at Cleveland Clinic, and I am sooooo much better! So a perfectly normal day is a big deal around my digs.

Nothing makes Frax's floppy ears perk as much as they possibly can like hearing he's a good boy. Nothing makes my small pink ears perk happily as having a really good day. Having MS was best described to me once as like having a glass of water next to your bedside. Some days you wake up and there barely is a drop of water in it. Other days, it's brimming with fresh life-giving cool water!

MS is like that. Some days you wake up and wonder if you slept at all. The energy is sucked out of you and there really isn't a thing you can do to 'recharge' your body's battery. At first its plain scary waking up with 'noodle legs' and having to hold on to every piece of furniture to get dressed and get going with your day, which is loooong, frustrating and in my case, painful due to neuropathy.

Other days, you wake up and it's almost...normal. I almost can remember what its like to get out of bed and feel my legs firmly beneath me. I almost remember what it's like not to hurt in my arms and legs. I can do a few things around the house with Frax helping me scoot around a flower bed or fold some clothes while I sit on the floor.

Today was a good day. My ears perked up! And so did Frax's!

We went to church, I met with a dear friend who I've worried about, and she's feeling better! In fact, she looked great! It was a great relief!

Then, another gift! The dear Father that has helped Bill and I so many times in the past...he was there today and gave a wonderful sermon.

As I left, I gave the Father a great big hug, and shared with him what I share with you now~ My hubby, Frax and I are going to Cleveland Clinic in August to get further help with tummy issues that have made me weaker and messed with the MS! We've followed as closely as possible long-distance a plan of care for the tum, and it's really, really helped. Bill and Frax and I finally can go out and eat and be a rather normal family again since we started this plan of care last November (coincidentally when this blog went live...and all of you came to share Frax and my journey!).

Father gave me a fantastic blessing, so now we are ready for sure for our trip to Cleveland. I've been to Ohio, a long time ago for a dog show, of all things! I don't remember much except the beautiful waterfront, and that it was so flat compared to my hills of Tennessee.

The day only got better! Bill and Frax and I had a nice brunch at a family restaurant. I was actually able to down a normal lunch! Yay! Then we got a super special muffin to take to my 92-year-old mom who lives in nursing home nearby.

Talk about a happy mom~ she's got a sweet tooth and her eyes got round as saucers when we opened the muffin container! A grin split her face from ear to ear! It was a pineapple upside down muffin with a cherry on top! She will have a wonderbaar snack this evening! I'll have to check tomorrow by phone and see how she enjoyed it. We brought her a peach muffin last Sunday, and they are outstanding, but something tells me this muffin was the tip-top for her! It was fun to see how much happiness a silly muffin can bring!

Mom loves to visit with Bill and I, but visiting with her 'grand-dog' Frax is the best in Mom's book! Sometimes I think we could just send Fraxie in and she would be perfectly content visiting just with him! Frax adores mom. It's the sweetest thing! His tail rotates round and round like a helicopter! A big grin was plastered across his big face, and his long bod wiggles back and forth. She is for sure one of Frax's special people! They had a great visit, and mom got her puppy kisses and hugs in for the week with Frax. She lives in a facility where she could actually have a pet if she wanted, but she understands she is so tippy and fragile that it is not a good idea from a safety standpoint. The nice thing is that other residents have pets and she can visit with them and get in her cuddle time with a special canine or two...or three!

And that was our special day.

Bill, Frax and I settled down and watched the Animal Planet and History channels, and now I'm here writing to you! A good day. A 'normal' day for most folks, but oh, so rare the last few years for me. I hope...I hope...We all have very good vibes for this upcoming trip.

So guys, I will be 'reporting' to you from Cleveland, Ohio soon. That should be fun. Frax is a great traveler but we haven't done a lot of that the last few years due to the tender tum. It'll be fun to see how Frax likes everything. I always love to see how he processes new things. Better toddle off now, it's been a big day...perhaps I will have another tomorrow! Ya never know...

Later!

LV, FX & JT
