Falling For You

Hello!

It's hard to believe that Mom fell and broke her shoulder today. Exactly a week ago we celebrated a belated birthday with my brother Jack and his son. We went out to eat, visited and gave him gifts. She looked great, but then she always does!

A helpful aide at her assisted living took a picture for us...Frax included! Mom absolutely adores him! The feeling is quite mutual. His tail does the 'propeller' and goes round and round when he sees her! (She drops a lot of crumbs when we go out to eat, and he is very glad to vacuum up any stray food particles!) Frax is nothing if about food and stray food items.

Bill, Frax and I went and visited with Mom after church and gave her the usual muffin. She chatted about how she would like to have her own service dog! This is a discussion that we've had in the past, but she doesn't remember going over it. She's waaaaaaaaaaaaay to tippy to have a dog underfoot. It would make a difficult situation worse. After going over this chat, she reluctantly agreed that she would have to continue to enjoy other's dogs at the assisted living facility. They have service dogs that come and visit, plus many residents have their own pets. I would get Mom a fish, but I've tried it and it failed. She's so soft-hearted that when fish go to that great fish pond in the sky fairly soon after getting them, she totally falls apart and blames herself! Not worth the trauma! At least the resident's pets she can enjoy, the visiting service dogs and her 'grand-dog' Frax!

As one of the Canine Assistant volunteers succinctly put it: “So little time, so many wonderful dogs!”

Later...
