Hello!
A Little update about a dog with a heart as big as Texas! Bretnegne, the last known living service dog from 9-11, recently was given 'the bone to the city' in NYC as she has reached her SIXTEENTH birthday recently. Bretnegne and her handler of sixteen years, Denise, were honored for their service to NYC during the dark days of 9-11.
Bretnegne and her handler were stopped and thanked by average New Yorkers everywhere they went on their tour of the big apple. A generous donation was given in honor of Bretnegne to Texas Task Force One, the FEMA agency they are affiliated with for the continuation of fine service seach and rescue dogs into perpetuity.
There is a stone with Bretnegne's name and contribution to the effort on 9-11 at the memorial site.
Here is the link to the excellent film on Bretnegne's big adventure and a glowing tribute to all our search and rescue dogs past, present and future! We Ruff you Bretnegne!
