Hello,
Obviously this isn't Frax, but it is one of the hundreds of thousands of working dogs around the world that make our lives better. I literally made a stumble over 'Rumble' an aptly named German Shepard Dog who takes a bite out of crime in Western Australia. Rumble has been a bit of a celebrity down-under due to the sheer magnitude of cases he has helped to solve and crimes he's prevented. He's been grievously wounded several years ago, and was able to come back to work.
Now he has fought for his life again, and softie that Frax and I are...well, we had to share some of Rumble's story...
In Western Australia a police dog named 'Rumble' is on the mend after some serious symptoms. He started having trouble walking, then had seizures. He is diagnosed with meningitis. Vets say he might have gotten the disease from ticks, Lyme disease, or parasitic infections like toxoplasmosis. Recovery is slow from a massive infection like this.
The popular police dog had been in intensive care, but an update on social media on Wednesday October 21st from Western Australia stated that he had “been diagnosed with meningitis but was responding well to treatment.”
Rumble has chased down countless criminals and most recently helped catch the “Porshe Kid” Bret Lindsey Capper wanted for robberies in Western Australia. He is a well-known and beloved member of his community, helping keep Western Australians safe. His partner Senior Constable Matthew Muletta has been very concerned for his crime-fighting helper understandably.
The site uploaded a picture of eight year old Rumble a handsome German Shepard Dog at the veterinary hospital where he is receiving treatment, barking away at the camera. The police also posted:
“Our boy is a fighter ... the treatment seems to be working and while it is slow he is now alert and even becoming playful,” police posted on Facebook.“He asked us to share this video. Rumble being diagnosed and slowly on the mend, in my opinion = Best. Day. Ever.”
In 2011 he was seriously mauled by two pit bulls and sustained major damage to his neck and legs requiring four months of convalescence. Handlers were concerned that he might be too traumatized from the attack to return to work, but he did well, and is a crime fighting sensation in his corner of Australia.
Police are unsure if he will return to his duties. He is a very popular dog in Western Australia known for his crime fighting prowess.
The last update was on October 25 when it was reported that Rumble was going home. Unfortunately, there haven't been anymore updates, but as they say, no news is good news, and Rumble is a very much-loved pooch.
