Happy New Year!

Hello!

Happy New Year! We are well and started into the New Year, and it feels like early Spring hereabouts. Frax, disgusted, is shedding his luxurious coat that he grew with such gusto just a few months ago. I was sure and certain that he knew something we didn't about impending weather, and he had an air of smugness, that this year he wouldn't freeze because he hadn't grown a proper coat!

Since he is a mostly short-haired fellow, it seemed to me that his concerns regarding coat growth, were, ahm, overblown...But either way, it's time to get out the shedder blade and help the fellow along with ridding himself of his luxurious soft coat that he has been so proud of the last few months. I hope that he isn't caught again in the last few weeks of March, with a late Winter, early Spring freeze up.

The animals are confused, they have every reason. A black bear in the wilds of south Jersey woke up and decided to hang out in a subdivision this Saturday, then fell asleep in the crook of an accommodating Maple tree in someone's yard. They called first responders, who, taking one look at the bear suggested everyone go back home and leave the bear alone...he would go back to wherever he came from when he'd had a nap....

Some trees are budding too soon as well.

If you are Frax, you sit quietly while 'mom' brushes you from tip to toe, and makes your skin tingle, as she gets all that nasty dead fur off of you...then you shed even more a few hours later all on your own, knowing 'mom' is going to clean it up anyways. He reminds me of the character 'pigpen' in the 'Peanuts' cartoon...as he walks by he leaves a cloud of downy short fur trailing behind him....

it's not quite that bad, but he is shedding really hard the last day or two...It's hard to be stylish when your 'fur suit' is in transition!

Maybe we'll put some fur outside for the birds who love it so~ if it gets cold again it will make them warmer, and if not, it makes for a mighty cushy nest!

Ah, the trials and tribulations of my helper in his fur suit~ you sometimes have to suffer to be handsome like he is!
